Welcome to MyMommyBiz
Start Your Own Doula Business

Picture a home in ancient Greece, servants running through the columned halls with bundles of towels and basins of water. Upstairs, the lady of the house is preparing to give birth. The midwife will arrive soon, and the men have all left. As the mistress paces the halls in her labor and leans against a couch, her handmaid walks beside her. Whispering encouragement and stroking her arm, this favorite servant is known as a doula. She will take care of her mistress, providing support and reassurance as the baby is born.

Doulas today are labor and childbirth attendants. They care for a birthing woman, tending to her non-medical needs, such as relaxation exercises, positioning, sustenance during labor, advocacy and help in communicating with caregivers, information and planning before labor, and support after birth. And they make money doing it. Depending on the area, beginning doulas charge $200-500 per birth, and experienced doulas make even more. Amazingly, the training and set-up costs for a career as a doula are small, and the rewards go far beyond monetary compensation.

The following is the table of contents for the MyMommyBiz Original eBook Start your own Doula Birth Business

About The Author
My name is Sarah Carter and I have been a birth doula for 2 years. When I began, I had no idea how to pursue my dream of helping women give birth and fell into my career haphazardly. There were no guides, and very little information available on how to get started as a doula. I certified through Doulas of North America, a great organization, but I've worked hard to let the organizations speak for themselves in this e-book. Each one has its own strengths and niche, and it is really a matter of finding the right one for you. There are so many wonderful things about being a doula, and many difficult ones as well. I hope this e-book gives you a fair picture and useful information as you begin your journey.
