How can I ensure a successful (and profitable!) online party?

The most important thing in having a successful party is to be sure to invite lots of guests. Most party failures are simply because hosts invited only a couple people, or the few people they invited did not show up. The more people you invite, the more people will attend, and the more money will be spent! Although we do promote your party, it is ultimately up to you to ensure that you invite plenty of guests so that you have a full chat room of fun for your online party.

Who should I invite?

Create a list of those you think might attend. Of course, think of those you are friends with or network with online. Go through your address book and your messenger list. Think of those you chat with on various message boards you frequent. Then go ahead and invite them.

Don't forget local family, friends, and co-workers. So many people have internet access these days that you can easily pick up the phone and ask if they would be interested in attending a no-strings online party you are holding. If they are, confirm their email address and send them an email.

How do I send people my online invitation?

MyMommyBiz now offers a free online party invitation service. This is very similar to how you would send an online greeting card to someone. Simply go to our online party invitation page, choose your style of invitation (we will have specific party plan themes coming soon ~ such as toys, kitchen and home decor!), fill in your guest's name and email address, along with your name and email address. Then fill out all the details for your online party ~ don't forget the web address for your online party room. You get to preview your card, then press send! And once your guest has picked up her card, you will receive an email confirmation back letting you know she has received it ~ saving you the time you would normally spend following up.

Should I remind people?

It is always best to remind people the day of or day before your online party. Life has a tendancy to interfere, and most who plan to attend would like the extra reminder. Ideally, you should send your first invitation a week or so before the event, with a follow-up the day before or same day as your party.

Can I announce my party online?

Yes! While we recommend inviting people personally, you can also announce it on message boards or any mail groups you belong to.

Do any of your groups allow ads a certain day of the week? Try and schedule your party for the same day or day after, so that you can send your weekly ad to the group advertising your online party.

Announce it on message boards you frequent. Most boards have boards for ads and a few (such as the MyMommyBiz Message Boards) have special boards just for announcing your online party!

Can I add my online party to my signature?

Yes, we recommend adding a note about your online party to your email signature. If you participate in any signature swaps, be sure to let your partner know about your party, so a note can be added too!

If you frequent any message boards that allow business signatures, be sure to add your online party to the signature. It is great exposure for your online party.

What if I don't have an online catalog?

If you have your own website, you can scan a few of your more popular products and upload them online. If you do not have a scanner or a website, MyMommyBiz can provide these services and upload a special party page for you. Please contact us for rates & availability.

Alternatively, you can schedule your party in advance, and send out your invitations. You can then mail catalogs out to those who are interested in attending. We recommend planning about a month or so in advance, to ensure adequate time for catalogs to reach your customers.

How does an online party work?

An online party works quite similarly to a regular home party. You can discuss the products, answer specific questions, talk about joining the business (there are often guests who specifically attend to find out more about the opportunity)

There is often general chatting, too. If many of the guests do not know each other, have each guest do a little introduction to the group.

What should my party username be?

When you go to sign in for your party, choose a name so that everyone entering the party knows exactly who the host is. You can choose names such as HostKatie or UsborneKatie to achieve this.

How long do parties usually last?

Most parties last in the 1 - 2 hour range. Be recommend you budget your time for an hour. The room is yours and only yours, so you don't have to worry about your party conflicting with anyone elses.

Are morning, afternoon or evening parties better?

It is hard to say! Evening parties tend to have more guests and tend to last longer, but others have reported more sales for their morning show than their evening show.

What if I don't have a hostess?

If you do not have a hostess for your party, consider a mystery hostess prize. Everyone who attends your party and places an order is entered to win the mystery hostess prize ~ the prize is what the hostess would have received at a home party, whether it be a percentage off or free products. It is a great way to reward your guests with that extra something.
