When Should You Purchase Supplies in Bulk? It is often hard to decide when the right time is to purchase your craft supplies in bulk. You may love your local craft or hobby store where you do most of your purchasing, and want to continue supporting a local business (or a friend's business). But there comes a time when it makes more economic and business sense to purchase your supplies in bulk or through a wholesaler. Buying in bulk can eat up a large portion of your available cash flow, but the end result is that you are saving money in the long run. Before you buy in bulk, you should be certain that there will be suitable demand for the end resulting product before you purchase any of the supplies in bulk. If the item is a flop, you do not want to be stuck with $200 worth of supplies that you cannot use in any other craft project. You will also want to evaluate the savings. If the long term savings is negligible even when purchasing in bulk, it might make more sense to continue purchasing those supplies from the local craft store, provided they can meet the supply demand for the desired craft project. Once you are certain that you can use the supplies, and will save a significant amount of money to justify the initial expense outlay, that is the time to make the jump for buying in bulk.
