Selling on eBay

Reporting Stolen Auction Photos to eBay

What should you do when you discover another seller is using your own photos in her eBay auctions without permission? Report them!

First of all, it is illegal for anyone to use your photos without permission. It is considered copyright infringement and it is against the law. And eBay takes this law seriously too.

You can report the stolen auction photos to eBay under their Verified Rights Owner Program, also commonly known as the eBay VeRO program. This program helps intellectual property owners who are the subject of theft.

To file a report for photo theft, click here. It can take several days for eBay to respond, so do file as soon as you discover the theft, so the auction can be removed from the eBay database before the auction is over.

But even if there is not much time in the auction, still submit your report, because the other seller will still be warned that it is illegal, and it will become a part of her eBay record. If a seller is guilty of this offense several times, that seller could lose her registered status on eBay.
