Just because you are located in the US, does not mean that all your potential
customers are also in the US. As I browse through many company websites
(both large and small home-based ones) I am astounded at the number of
businesses that do not include any information or reference to international
shipping.
While most have a shipping info page, it usually contains shipping rates
for the US, but nothing on international destinations ~ including whether
the business will even ship internationally. As a Canadian who makes many
purchases from work-at-home moms, I am constantly emailing people to find
otu whether or not they ship to Canada.
You should always include shipping information for international destinations.
This does not mean you have to go out and research every possible country
for shipping rates to post them on your site. Even a simple "Please
email me with your mailing address for shipping rates to international
destinations." With the USPS (United States Postal Service) online
rate calculator, you can quickly determine shipping for those of us who
live outside of the US.
If you find you are constantly shipping to a particular country such
as Canada, you can easily update your shipping information to include
the shipping rate to that country, saving you from answering the same
question via email.
