Protection Generator
If you would like to password
protect directories on your website, you need to make modifications to
your .htaccess file and .htpasswd file. If your hosting company does not
allow you to change your .htaccess file (not all companies allow their
clients to make changes) you can request that you either be allowed to
make changes, or that they make the changes you supply.
Be sure to backup your .htaccess
file before making changes.
