When You Telecommute
Many times when you are hired
for a telecommuting position you are hired as an Independent contractor
(you can read more about what an independent contractor is here).
It may be best to set up an
appointment with your tax accountant or visit the http://www.irs.gov site
for information on claiming your taxes. Some questions you should keep
in mind are:
How will being an independent
contractor affect your overall tax situation?
Do you need to set up quarterly tax payments?
What equipment and/or supplies are tax deductible?
Do you need to set up a business checking account? If yes, what is required
in the county that you reside in?
Most importantly please be
sure you keep all receipts when you purchase equipment/supplies needed
to work. And also make sure you keep all your contracts and pay stubs
so you will have them when tax time rolls around!
TeleMoms wishes you many successes
in finding the right job your you!
